Wellness in Our Workplace

With
the amount of time spent at work in today’s
society and the rising costs of healthcare,
wellness in the workplace becomes an
increasingly important aspect of work life.
That makes the role of HR professionals
critical for considering, planning and
recommending new wellness initiative. WOW!,
wellness in our workplace, is a new online
resource designed to assist human resource
professionals in the development and
implementation of wellness programs in the
workplace –
wellness.illinoisshrm.org.
Developed by the Illinois State Council of
the Society for Human Resource Management
with the support of an unrestricted
educational grant from Blue Cross and Blue
Shield of Illinois, WOW! serves as a
one-stop clearinghouse for worksite wellness
as well as a resource for chapter programs.
WOW! provides:
- An
introduction to workplace wellness along
with the potential benefits for
employees and employers
- Tools
to help with the development and
implementation of workplace wellness
programs
- A
collection of the best online resources
available for workplace wellness needs
and information
- The
latest health and wellness news
- An
online message board to share
information and practices related to
workplace wellness
This
presentation by Rebecca Garrett from Blue
Cross and Blue Shield will help you to
understand and to make use of this no cost
Wellness resource that is available to you
and your employer.

About the Presenter:
Rebecca Garrett joined Blue Cross
and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) in 2007 and now works on the product
development wellness team. In product development, she focuses on the Lifestyle
Management Program, Metabolic Syndrome Program, and Health Risk Assessment. Ms.
Garrett is also integral in developing and designing new wellness programs.
Prior to BCBSIL, Ms. Garrett worked as a project manager at a Chicago-based
interactive marketing company. Ms. Garrett holds a bachelor of arts degree from
the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is currently pursuing her
master's degree in public health at DePaul University.

Meetings and Reservation Requirements
Checks or cash will be collected at the door. Credit cards
can only be accepted online.
Reservations are REQUIRED IN ADVANCE, and the deadline for reservations is Noon
on the Tuesday prior to the meeting.
A 24-hour cancellation notice is required. Our chapter requires that
individuals who reserve a seat but do not attend be charged $25 to cover costs.
Membership in DuPage Society for Human Resource Management is for the
named human resources individual--not the employer company. If you send a
substitute to the meeting who is not a DSHRM member, that person will be
charged the $30 fee.
